Introduction to the Rome Film Festival

The Rome Film Festival is set to take place from October 15th to 26th, and this year’s event will honor several notable filmmakers. Richard Linklater, Edgar Reitz, and Nia Dacosta are among those who will be recognized for their contributions to the film industry.

Honoring Richard Linklater

Richard Linklater, the director of the "Before" trilogy, which includes Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and Before Midnight, as well as Boyhood, will be honored at the festival. Linklater will also present his latest film, New Wave, which premiered in Cannes. The award will be presented by Italian director Marco Bellocchio.

Edgar Reitz: Master of Film

Edgar Reitz, a German filmmaker known for his work on Heimat, will receive the Rome Master of Film Award. Reitz will present his latest film, Leibniz Chronicle of a Lost Painting, which explores the life of German philosophers. The Master of Film Award will be presented by Italian director Nanni Moretti.

Nia Dacosta: Progressive Lifetime Achievement Award

Nia Dacosta, a New York-based director, will receive the Progressive Lifetime Achievement Award. Dacosta is known for her work on films like Little Woods, Candyman, and The Miracle. She will also present her interpretation of Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, titled Hedda, at the festival.
