Introduction to Elizabeth Olsen’s Thoughts on the MCU
Elizabeth Olsen, known for her role as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, recently discussed her desire to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). During a conversation about her film "eternity" at the Hampton International Film Festival, Olsen expressed her love for the MCU and her willingness to reprise her character.
Past Experiences with the MCU
Olsen first appeared as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in 2016’s "Captain America: Civil War." She then went on to star in her own limited series, "WandaVision," in 2021, earning an Emmy nomination for her role. Her most recent appearance as the character was in 2022’s "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness." Although Olsen has confirmed that her character died in the film, the multiverse setting leaves room for potential future appearances.
The Appeal of the MCU
When asked about her experience with the MCU, Olsen stated, "It’s something I love and it is something that I always want to return to." She also emphasized that the films are made for the fans, saying, "I mean, these films are not for critics, these films are for fans." Olsen enjoys the consistency and job security that comes with working on a long-term project like the MCU.
Superhero Fatigue and Job Security
Olsen also addressed the topic of superhero fatigue, which has been a concern for some Marvel executives. She noted that some people become attached to ongoing television series and that she enjoys the consistency of working on a long-term project. Olsen added, "Job security feels good – I think we can all agree on it."
Olsen’s Future Plans
Olsen reiterated her desire to return to the MCU, saying that she never had the mentality of "one for them, one for me." She appreciates the consistency that Marvel has provided and the opportunity to create a character like Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. Olsen’s film "eternity" is set to be released in limited theaters on November 14 before going wide on November 26.
