Introduction to Julia Roberts’ Recent Interview
Julia Roberts, a renowned Oscar winner, recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to discuss her new film, After the Hunt, directed by Luca Guadagnino. The movie features an impressive cast, including Andrew Garfield, Ayo Edebiri, and Michael Stuhlbarg. However, there was one co-star who intimidated Roberts – Chloë Sevigny.
The Intimidating Co-Star
Roberts admitted to being frightened by Sevigny, whom she had never met before. She recalled the first time they met, which was at her house during rehearsals for the film. Roberts, Edebiri, and the rest of the cast were rehearsing at the kitchen table when the producer announced that Sevigny would be arriving soon. Roberts looked at Edebiri and whispered, "I’m scared!" to which Edebiri replied, "Me too!"
The First Meeting with Chloë Sevigny
When Guadagnino asked why they were afraid to meet Sevigny, Roberts simply replied, "Because it’s Chloë." As Sevigny arrived, everyone froze, and Roberts tried to compose herself before answering the door. She attempted to make her cheeks look pink to appear "fetching and appealing" before greeting the iconic actress. However, Sevigny welcomed Roberts with her normal tone, leaving Roberts feeling a bit deflated.
Julia Roberts’ Reaction to Chloë Sevigny
Roberts joked that she wanted to start crying when Sevigny didn’t react as she had expected. She praised Sevigny, describing her as "exceptional and eccentric." Despite initial intimidation, Roberts and the rest of the cast were able to put their fears aside and work together to film After the Hunt.
The Film’s Plot and Release
After the Hunt follows a college professor who is at a personal and professional crossroads when a star student applies to work with one of her colleagues, threatening to uncover a dark secret from her past. The film is set to be released on October 10 for a limited time before its wide release on October 17.
Behind-the-Scenes
Roberts shared a humorous anecdote about her daughter, who was present during the rehearsals. When Sevigny arrived, her daughter quickly left the room, saying, "Go through the garage. We’ll see you later, mom." Roberts joked that her daughter was intimidated by Sevigny, just like the rest of the cast. Even Edebiri asked to leave, citing her intimidation by the Not Young actress. Fortunately, they were all able to overcome their fears and work together to create the film.
