Paramount Pictures Expands International Reach
Paramount Pictures President of the International Theater Division Mark Viane has funded Ricardo Cortes in EPP for international theater distribution and head of Latin America. This move is expected to strengthen the studio’s presence in the global market.
New Role and Responsibilities
Cortes will monitor the studio’s theatrical sales strategy in the international markets and lead business activities throughout Latin America. With his extensive experience in the industry, he is well-equipped to handle this new role. Most recently, he was SVP, Latin America Distribution & Marketing and Managing Director, Mexico.
Background and Experience
The executive joined Paramount Pictures in 2007 and has supervised regional releases of popular franchises such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Mission: Impossible, and Transformers. Previously, Cortes worked at United International Pictures as sales manager for Latin America and the Caribbean, based in Brazil. His expertise in the Latin American market will be invaluable in his new position.
Recent Appointments
In addition to Cortes’ new role, Paramount announced that Josh Silverman will join Global Products & Experiences on October 6th. Silverman will oversee a portfolio that includes consumer goods, live experiences, publications, partnerships, and e-commerce for physical products. He will report to Paramount President Jeff Shell. Silverman’s experience at Marvel Entertainment, Walt Disney Company, and Mattel makes him an ideal candidate for this position.
Strengthening Global Presence
These new appointments demonstrate Paramount Pictures’ commitment to expanding its global reach. With Cortes and Silverman on board, the studio is poised to increase its presence in international markets and explore new opportunities for growth. As the entertainment industry continues to evolve, Paramount is well-positioned to remain a major player in the global market.
