Introduction to Guernsey’s Special Football Stadium

Guernsey’s unique football stadium, Victoria Park, has received a prestigious award for being the best big project on the island. This impressive stadium was opened in March and has been recognized for its outstanding design and construction, which was made possible by the collaboration of local suppliers and contractors.

The Award and Its Significance

The award was given to Victoria Park for its exceptional combination of local involvement and high-quality construction. The stadium was designed by Lovell Ozanne Architects in Guernsey and was recognized at the Guernsey prices on Thursday. According to Andrew Merrett, director of the architects, "Fittingly for a football facility, it was a real team effort to achieve this, and we are proud of the result of this close cooperation."

The Stadium’s Impact on the Community

The development of Victoria Park, which cost 10 million GBP, was a collaborative effort between local contractors and stakeholders. The stadium is now the central hub for sport and social engagement in the community. Mr. Merrett emphasized that the development was designed to play an important role in Guernsey’s sports scene, both present and future. He added that the design and construction of the facility were carefully planned to reflect its significance.

Additional Awards and Recognition

Another project by Lovell Ozanne, Plaza House in Admiral Park, won the Sustainability Award at the same event. Plaza House was Guernsey’s first building to achieve Breeam certification, which means it meets the highest standards in sustainable design. The building features advanced energy systems, water conservation strategies, and low-carbon transport infrastructure.

Commitment to Quality and Sustainability

Mr. Merrett stated that the awards are "a reflection of our team’s commitment to creating architectures that are both targeted and permanent." He expressed pride in contributing to Guernsey’s developing environment and thanked their clients and employees for their trust and partnership. The awards demonstrate the company’s dedication to delivering high-quality and sustainable projects that benefit the community.
