Introduction to iPhone’s Latest Function

A braarious new iPhone function saves you from annoying spam calls that can waste your time – or worse, cheat you. The clever trick has been added to the latest iPhone update and is now available to millions of models. However, you have to switch it on manually or it doesn’t work at all.

What is Call Screening?

It is called call screening and enables a robot speech of unknown numbers for you. This virtual robot checks the callers before they ever get the chance to speak to them – and he even writes down what they say on their screen in real time. The function was added as part of the new iOS 26 update from Apple, which began at the beginning of this month.

How iOS 26 Update Benefits iPhone Users

The iOS 26 update adds many upgrades and a brand new design for your iPhone called liquid glass, which makes the interface shiny and translucent. However, one of the biggest upgrades is the call screening. This function works to protect you from spam by checking calls from unknown numbers. The function is therefore not for contacts or people who you called beforehand.

How Does iPhone Call Screening Work?

If the unknown call goes through, your iPhone will automatically use a robot voice to ask the caller who you are and why you call. In fact, you are asked why you call before your phone even rings. The caller’s answers are transcribed and advertised on the screen of your iPhone in real time. So you can see if you are actually a legitimate caller who is trying to contact you about something important – or just an annoying spammer or fraud.

Activating Call Screening Function

To switch on the function, make sure that you have iOS 26 (Settings > General > Software update) and then go to Settings > Apps > Telephone. Then scroll on the screen unknown callers and choose the call from inquiries.

Bonus iPhone Function – Hold Assistant

Another clever upgrade for your iPhone in iOS 26 takes place in the form of Hold Assist. If you are in the queue during a call – as with customer service – you can activate Hold Assist. This will notify you if a live agent is on the line so that you don’t have to wait there. Just make sure you go to Settings > Apps > Telephone and first record the detection of assist. In this way, your iPhone can automatically keep music. You can still activate Hold Assist manually without this setting. Your iPhone will also transcribe the part of the call you missed so you can catch up.
