Silvia Venturini Fendi Resigns as Creative Director of Fendi
Silvia Venturini Fendi has resigned as Creative Director of Fendi and taken on the role of honorary president of the Roman house, which has been working in her family for three generations. Fendi, who has designed men’s and accessories for the house since 1994, took over the women’s clothing after Kim Jones’s departure in October and steered the house for two seasons in its hundredth year.
Background and Experience
Before Jones, Venturini Fendi was second to Karl Lagerfeld from 1992 to 2019, the long-time creative director of Fendi’s Womenswear and Couture. After two seasons that led all collections, she makes room for a new creative director. Venturini Fendi expressed her excitement and gratitude for the journey, stating that her heart turns to Karl, an extraordinary master who was an honor to work alongside.
New Role and Responsibilities
In her new capacity, Venturini Fendi will concentrate on supporting Fendi’s legacy, while "continues to use the brand worldwide and the rich history of Maison, the extraordinary craftsmanship and the world of Fendi Casa," said the brand in an explanation. Fendi appointed CEO Ramon Ros in July this year to control the brand through the creative transition.
Impact and Future Plans
LVMH does not trigger the turnover of individual brands, but according to HSBC estimates, Fendi’s sales were € 2.33 billion in 2024. Ros praised Venturini Fendi’s contributions to the brand, stating that she has been crucial for the international success of Fendi. The rumor mill has raised speculation about Venturini Fendi’s departure since Jones, but with her resignation, the stakes are now much higher for those who accept the house. According to Fendi, a new creative organization is announced "in due course".
