Prior to the album’s release, Spotify published a 33-minute interview between the couple, where they discussed their writing process and how they drew inspiration from their conversations.

"We would get up in the morning and have a conversation. But our conversation was never like, ‘What are we going to write about in the album?’" Gomez explained. Blanco added, "I constantly wrote what you said, wherever we were. Sometimes you’d say something really important, and I didn’t know if you noticed at all, but I always opened my phone and said, ‘Fuck, that’s such a good line for a song.’" This approach has clearly worked for the couple, as their album has been well-received by fans and critics alike.
