Introduction to a Powerful Film

The height has acquired UK-Ireland’s sales rights to Kaouther Ben Hania’s documentary drama, The voice of the Hind Rajab. France’s The Party Film Sales has taken over the sales of the title. This film has been making waves in the film festival circuit, and its impact is being felt globally.

Background and Inspiration

The voice of the Hind Rajab is based on real events that took place in January 2024. The documentary drama follows the reaction of the Palestinian Red Moon of Volunteers to the emergency calls of the five-year-old Hind Rajab, a Palestinian girl who was killed by the Israeli defense forces during the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip. This film is a powerful portrayal of the human cost of conflict and the impact it has on innocent lives.

Film Festivals and Awards

The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival in competition and won the Grand Jury Prize. It has also been shown at the film festivals in Toronto, Busan, and San Sebastian, with upcoming screenings at Zurich, BFI London Film Festival, and Chicago. Additionally, it will open the first Doha Film Festival in November. The voice of the Hind Rajab has reacted emotional reactions both at its press release, conference, and premiere in Venice. It is also Tunisia’s introduction to the best international feature Oscar category.

Production and Cast

The producers of the film are Jim Wilson, Odessa Rae, and Nadim Cheikhrou. Shortly before its debut in Venice, the film was joined by several top-class executive producers, including Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Alfonso Cuaron, and Jonathan Glazer. This is Ben Hania’s seventh feature film, and her earlier titles, such as The man who sold his skin and Four daughters, have also received critical acclaim.

Director’s Filmography

Ben Hania’s The man who sold his skin was nominated for the best international feature at the 2021 Oscars, and Four daughters was nominated for the best documentary feature in 2024. Her films often tackle tough subjects and spark important conversations. With The voice of the Hind Rajab, she continues to push boundaries and challenge her audiences to think critically about the world around them.
