Introduction to Creative Talent
For Carla Sozzani and Sara Maina Sobuszani, finding new creative talent was a lifelong pursuit. This journey began for Carla in the 1980s when she worked at Fashion Italia alongside her sister, the legendary editor Franca Sozzani. During this period, they introduced readers to the concept of ready-to-wear from modern labels such as Valentino and Prada.
Early Career and Ventures
It wasn’t long before Carla ventured out on her own, starting Italian Elle in 1987. This move was followed by the opening of her Concept Store, 10 Corso Como, in 1991. Here, she proudly showcased established labels like Balenciaga and Comme des Garçons. Carla’s support for new talents was always a cornerstone of her work, seeking out something new and unseen by the public.
Support for New Talents
"Of course, Martin Margiela was up to date," Carla recalls with a smile. "It was a different time. But the support of new talents was always one of the most important points in my research; something new that people did not see." This commitment to discovering and promoting fresh creative voices has been a consistent theme throughout her career.
