Introduction to Zero K
Director Michael Almereyda has found the perfect leads for his upcoming film adaptation of Don DeLillo’s novel, Zero K. The movie will star Caleb Landry Jones, Peter Sarsgaard, and Andrea Riseborough in the leading roles. Production is set to begin in Sao Paulo, Brazil, in early 2026. Almereyda, who also wrote the script, will focus the Zero K adaptation on a young man who becomes embroiled in his billionaire father’s plans to cheat death using cryonics and radical science in a remote desert facility.
The Cast
Caleb Landry Jones is known for his roles in Exit, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Nitram, for which he won the Best Actor award at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. Peter Sarsgaard will also appear in John Ashpool’s upcoming series Neuromant and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s film The Bride, based on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Meanwhile, Andrea Riseborough has appeared in Birdman, Mandy, and The Death of Stalin, and will also star in Jan Komasa’s Good Boy, which premiered in Toronto.
Behind the Scenes
For Zero K, Almereyda will reunite with Sarsgaard after their collaboration on Experimenter, and with cinematographer Sean Price Williams, who worked on the films Marjorie Prime and Tesla. Almereyda expressed his excitement about the project, stating, "I am lucky enough to have assembled such an exceptional and masterful lineup and to be working again with Peter and Sean. DeLillo’s book captures a unique mix of realism and dream logic, wonder and dread, and we aim to translate this into a film."
