The company shared a new gameplay trailer for the latest superhero title from Insomniac Games, which shows the grizzled mutant in bloody and brutal action. Compared to their Spider-Man games, this independent title is an action-adventure with an M-rating that is packed with gore, corresponding more to the gravel nature of Logan.
Gameplay and Story
The gameplay trailer does not waste time in giving the tone of how malignant players will be, as Logan Howlett literally tears down soldiers with his claws. No matter where Wolverine runs, from local bars to city roads, markets, or flaming waste, trouble always seems to find him, and he always seems to come out in a ruthless way. However, not all blood-soaked brawls are, with the anti-hero participating in epic action set pieces on the back of a motorcycle and desperately hanging on a cliff with his claws. During his trip, he will meet some well-known Marvel faces such as Omega Red, who tries to suffocate him, and Mystique, together with a brief appearance of a security guard. All actions take place in some breathtaking places, from the Madripoor Island station to the wilderness of Canada and the busy streets of Tokyo.
Bringing Logan to Life
Bringing Logan to life in Marvel’s Wolverine is Liam McIntyre, known for taking over the main role of Spartacus in the Starz historical drama series. He speaks an angry and painful Logan on a journey to discover the truth of his dark past, with opponents on his way, while he is looking for all the information that can help him. Insomniac’s game will meet the "more nuanced" nature of the character, which deals with the violence he inflicts, and the punishment he endures with his healing factor. "Become a living weapon" is how the official blurb begins and teases the struggle for revelation and identity in front of the legendary mutant, whether he wears a cowboy hat or his legendary yellow suit.
Bumps in the Road to Release
‘Marvel’s Wolverine’ experienced some bumps on the road to release. No other than Wolverine himself scored a few hits during production. As early as 2023, Insomniac was targeted by ransomware hackers, which led to an early development build of Marvel’s Wolverine landing online. The gameplay footage of the unfinished game was then uploaded when the people who had access to the stolen files were played. Since then, the developer has packed things up considerably and positioned the bloody action title as one of the most expected games of 2026, which were nominated in the game of the year Spider-Man 2. Before that, Logan will not be the only half of Deadpool & Wolverine to get a new game, with Deadpool VR set for publication on Meta Quest 3/3S on November 18.
Release Date and Platform
Marvel’s Wolverine will be published in autumn 2026, exclusively on PlayStation 5. Before that, Insomniac promised more information about the game next spring.
