Introduction to the K-POP Musical Drama
Paramount Pictures and Hybe America have completed the line-up for their upcoming K-POP musical drama, adding nine stars to an already impressive cast. The film tells the story of a young Korean American who opposes her family’s wishes by participating in a TV competition to find the next K-Pop girls’ group.
The Star-Studded Cast
The Korean stars joining the cast include Jun, known for his roles in "Ghost Mansion" and "The Villain", Kang Sora from "Foreign Again" and "Endless Rain", and Hyongchol Lee from "Xo, Kitty". They will be joining previously announced stars Ji-Yoon, Yoo Ji-Tae, known for his iconic role in "Oldboy", Tony Revolori from "Spider-Man", and Gia Kim from "Xo, Kitty". Other new additions to the cast include singer Ahin Lee, actor and singer Renata Vaca, musician and actor Silia Kapsis, Aliyah Turner, and Shana Kim.
The Story and Production
The film will be led by director Benson Lee, known for his work on "Seoul Searching". The script was written by Eileen Shim, with earlier versions contributed by Adele Lim, known for her work on "Crazy Rich Asians", as well as Elyse Hollander and Lee. The project is the first large American studio film to be completely shot in South Korea and is currently in production, set to be released in cinemas on February 12, 2027.
Behind the Scenes
The film is being produced by James Shin from Hybe America, along with Arthur Spector and Joshua Davis from Epic Magazine and Scooter Braun. The executive producers include Joshuah Bearman from Epic Magazine, John Zaozirny, and Scott Manson. Bryan Oh, Senior VP of production at Paramount, is overseeing the project on behalf of the studio. The film has been in development since 2020 and was originally set up at 20th Century Studios before being acquired by Paramount.
