Disney+ and Hulu Price Hikes
Disney has announced that it will be increasing the prices for its Disney+ and Hulu streaming services in the USA, including most bundles, starting from next month. This is the third time in three years that Disney has raised its prices for streaming services in the USA.
New Prices for Disney+ and Hulu
The standalone Disney+ service with ads will increase from $9.99 to $11.99 per month, while the premium version without ads will increase from $15.99 to $18.99 per month. The Hulu standalone plan with ads will also increase from $9.99 to $11.99 per month, while the premium version without ads will remain at $18.99 per month.
ESPN Select Price Increase
In addition to the Disney+ and Hulu price hikes, the price for ESPN Select (formerly known as ESPN+) will also increase from $11.99 to $12.99 per month. ESPN Select has a more limited content selection compared to the recently launched ESPN Unlimited all-in app.
Reaction to Price Increases
A representative from Disney refused to comment on the price increases when reached by Diversity. The company has been planning the price hikes for weeks, but the announcement came after many users of Disney+ and Hulu gave their service to Disney and ABC’s suspension of Jimmy Kimmel’s show.
Merger of Disney+ and Hulu
After completing the acquisition of Hulu in a contract with Comcast in June, Disney plans to close Hulu as an independent app and service and fully merge it with Disney+ in 2026. However, users will still be able to purchase Disney+ and Hulu as separate plans.
