Introduction to The Lottery Winners
The Lottery Winners, a four-member indie pop band from Leigh, have announced plans to play their biggest British show in their native hometown of Manchester. The band will headline the Leigh Sports Village Stadium, which has a capacity of 12,000, on May 30, 2026.
The Big Show
They will be joined on stage by special guests, including Frank Turner and Reverend & the Makers, with support from Scouting for Girls. The band’s frontman, Thom Rylance, stated that this show is "not just another show for us – it’s a marker of everything we’ve worked for." He added that every step the band has taken, from playing in local pubs to touring the world, has led up to this moment.
A Dream Come True
Rylance emphasized that leading a stadium show in their hometown is a rare opportunity, and they don’t take it lightly. He said, "This night will be proof of what’s possible if you keep going." The band, completed by Robert Lally, Katie Lloyd, and Joe Singleton, has been working tirelessly since their formation in 2008.
The Band’s History
The Lottery Winners signed their first record contract with Sire Records in 2016, after being described by Boss Seymour Stein as "the best band since The Smiths." They released their debut album, Modern Sky, in 2020. The band’s lively indie pop songs and committed online presence have helped them build a dedicated fan base.
Rise to Fame
Frontman Rylance is generally considered one of the most funniest and likable figures in the music industry. The band’s online presence and music have earned them a personal invitation to tour with Robbie Williams. They have released two albums that have charted in the UK, including Anxiety Replacement Therapy in 2023, followed by Koko.
A Historic Moment
The Lottery Winners will be only the third act to headline the Leigh Sports Village Stadium, following in the footsteps of Elton John in 2014 and Lionel Richie in 2018. This show is a historic moment for the band and a testament to their hard work and dedication to their craft.
