Introduction to Deck the Y’alls
Oscar winner Octavia Spencer and Jessica Chastain are teaming up again after their leading roles in the 2011 film The Help. This time, they’re starring in a Christmas comedy called Deck the Y’alls. The duo will be joined by Wanda Sykes, known for her role in Bad Moms, and the script is written by Tracy Oliver, who is behind the hit films Girl Trip and Girl Trip 2, along with Stefanie Williams.
The Plot of Deck the Y’alls
Deck the Y’alls follows the story of Rachel Stein, a skilled New York baker played by Chastain, who falls in love with a younger southern gentleman named Beau. When Rachel spends Christmas with Beau’s family, she meets his overbearing matriarch, Gladys Gibbes, played by Spencer. Gladys is a force to be reckoned with, and Rachel must use all her charm and baking skills to win her over. The film is set to be shot in Charleston, SC, next year.

The movie is being produced by Sandbox Studios, Spencer’s Orit Entertainment, Chastain’s Freckle Films, and Sony Music Vision. The team is currently in discussions with sales partners to bring the film to a wider audience.
