Nicholas Brown: A Legendary Business Manager

Nicholas Brown, a renowned business manager for numerous iconic artists, passed away on September 5 in Santa Barbara, California, at the age of 75. His impressive client list included Michael Jackson, George Michael, Aerosmith, Michael Caine, Morrissey, The Cure, Boy George and Culture Club, Neil Diamond, Stevie Nicks, Jeff Lynne by Elo, and Dave Navarro, among many others.

A 50-Year Career in Music Management

Throughout his 50-year career as an accountant and managing director, Brown worked with artists in London and later in Los Angeles. He handled a wide range of responsibilities, including tours, accounting, assets, license fees, taxes, music catalogs, marriage and real estate business, and more. His expertise and dedication earned him a reputation as a trusted and skilled business manager in the music industry.

Tributes from Clients and Friends

Aerosmith drummer and co-founder Joey Kramer, who worked with Brown for 38 years, remembered him fondly, saying, "Nicholas was one of my best friends and my managing director. He was everything they could wish for in a friend and consultant. I miss him very much." Brown’s ability to balance his professional and personal relationships with his clients was a hallmark of his successful career.

Behind the Scenes with Michael Jackson

In a 2015 profile, Brown recalled a memorable experience during Michael Jackson’s "History" tour, where he would often laugh at the singer’s famous chimpanzee, Bubbles. Brown emphasized the importance of his financial role, stating, "What used to be simple has now become complicated; we have to be constantly vigilant." He stayed up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies to provide the best possible service to his clients.

A Commitment to Personal Growth and Philanthropy

Brown was a graduate of the University of Santa Monica’s Masters in Spiritual Psychology Program, which he completed in 2009. He was committed to personal growth and development, and he also worked with several non-profit organizations. Brown served as a board member of the Hands and Hearts of Hope Foundation and Chairman of the Educare Foundation Board, which aims to inspire and enable young people to become responsible global citizens, brave and compassionate leaders, and to live their dreams.

Legacy and Family

Nicholas Brown is survived by his wife, Gabriella Taylor, and two sons, Jesse and Jerish. His legacy as a skilled and dedicated business manager will be remembered by the many artists and clients he worked with throughout his career.
