Introduction to the 2025 MTV Music Video Awards

The 2025 MTV Music Video Awards kicked off on Sunday evening with a bang, courtesy of Doja Cat’s performance of her new track "Jealous Type". The event, hosted by LL Cool J, saw Doja Cat take the stage after the host’s opening monologue, which was followed by a video influenced by the iconic Max Headroom.

Doja Cat’s Performance

Doja Cat’s performance was a nostalgic treat, with a strong 80s pop atmosphere that included an unforgettable saxophone intro by the legendary Kenny G. The singer danced across the entire stage, wearing a white harvest roof and black pants, as she interacted with fans and encouraged them to sing along to the lyrics. The retro vibe was further enhanced by the backdrop, which featured neon lights in pink and blue.

Doja Cat’s Feature and Previous VMA Appearances

Doja Cat is no stranger to the VMAs, having taken the stage three times before. She also hosted the award ceremony in 2021. This year, she is nominated for her feature in Lisa’s "Born Again" for the best K-POP award. Her fifth album, "Paint the Town Red", which includes "Jealous Type", is set to be released on September 26th. Doja recently wrapped up her global Scarlet Tour on July 14th in London’s Finsbury Park.

Other VMA Performers

The 2025 VMAs featured a star-studded lineup of performers, including Lady Gaga, Tate McRae, Sabrina Carpenter, Alex Warren, Busta Rhymes, Conan Gray, J. Balvin, DJ Snake, Justin Quiles, Lenny Tavárez, Jelly Roll, Mariah Carey, Post Malone, Ricky Martin, and many more. The event also included appearances on an extended stage by Kid Laroi, Lola Young, Bailey Zimmerman, and Megan Moroney.

The 2025 VMAs: Winners and Red Carpet

The 2025 VMAs took place at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. The full list of winners and the entire red carpet event can be found online, giving fans a glimpse into the glamour and excitement of the evening.
