Introduction to New York Fashion Week

It is a three-stage approach in which the participating brands are supplied with event locations in several formats. Eight brands have unique venues. Another four will change through a joint show space in West Chelsea during the week, while around 20 designers take part in an exhibition room.

Participating Brands

The eight brands with their own event locations are Brandon Maxwell, Simkhai, Forne, Off-White, Sergio Hudson, Tibi, Altuzzara, and Kallmeyer. The four that share at the ‘Boutique event’ are Kate Barton, Advisry, Aknvas, and Zankov.

Event Locations

All venues will fall on a radius of Hudson Yards, to the financial district and the East Village. The idea was that shows are held closer together in this area and are coordinated with the CFDA, says the co-founder of N4XT experience, Imad Izemrane. "It will be a big pivot point and a big change, so that the schedule makes sense and the calendar makes sense every day."

Reception and Benefits

It has been well received, says Izemrane. It is no surprise – the event location and production support have long been a necessary initiative from the many brands for which it is a performance to show the show after the season. "The biggest need for NYFW was always financially powered. KFN and the event collective offer this support,"

Success Factors

The numerous options for the background will not feel stale. "It is an approach that enables designer creativity to assert itself instead of restricting itself in a certain way," Kolb agrees: "[KFN] They did not see a campus in a certain building and saw New York City as the campus that did not lock people into a certain room so that there is more fluid and it is more biological.

Graded Approach

This was the logic behind KFN’s graded approach, adds Izemrane. "Many of the designers you want to participate really do not want to get the same event location, the same space and certainly not get in and out within a time window," he says, referring to why many of the big players in New York avoid municipal venues like Spring Studios. "We have now been able to create this format, which makes sense that the Altuzarras and the off-white etc. enables you to be on our platform instead of finding it out and going to other places."
