Introduction to the US Open
The Spanish Carlos Alcaraz sealed his second US open title after a four-set victory against Italy Jannik Sinner in New York. Alcaraz broke the solemn premium in the first game of the match when he drove away 6-2 in just more than half an hour with the first set.
The Match
But Sinner would not defeat himself and fought back to take the second set 6-3. Alcaraz has dominated with his serve in the past two weeks, and it was almost unbeatable in the past two weeks. The fourth set turned out to be much tighter, and Sinner had his chances, but it was considered to be the turning point when Alcaraz broke out the fifth game of the last set.
Victory and Reaction
Alcaraz beat the US Open Champion of last year, and the Italian number one tennis player on the ATP ranking. The final on Sunday had a late start after the security of US President Donald Trump procured that people with him entered Arthur Ashe Stadium. Trump was hit by a few sections of the crowd with boos. The players received a much warmer reception, especially with some epic points that opposed. And it was ultimately Alcaraz who took the prize and won the title with an ace at his third championship point.
Post-Match Reaction
Alcaraz’s victory ends Sinner’s 27-game winner run at Hard-Court Grand Slams. "I tried my best today. I couldn’t do anymore," said Sinner. The competition between Alcaraz and Sinner marked the first time that the same two players had met in three grand finals in a row in one calendar year. Alcaraz won an epic final against Sinner in the French Open and saved three championship points on the way to a win with five sets. Sinner demanded revenge a few weeks later when he won the Wimbledon final against the Spaniard in four sets. "I see you more than my family," joked Alcaraz and triggered a grin from Sinner. "It is great to share the court, share the changing rooms, everything."
US Open Statistics
The loss of Sinner extends the longest drought without a successful title defense of a Grand Slam in the open era. Nobody has kept the US Open Crown since Roger Federer won five in a row between 2004 and 2008. On Saturday, Aryna Sabalenka kept her US open title with a win with straight sets against Amanda Anisimova.
