Cillian Murphy and Christopher Nolan’s Collaboration
Cillian Murphy has performed in six Christopher Nolan films, including the 2023 film "Oppenheimer", which brought them both Oscars. However, it seems that the cinematic duo is taking a break, as Murphy does not appear in Nolan’s next epic, his upcoming adaptation of "The Odyssey".
Murphy’s Thoughts on "The Odyssey"
While attending the Toronto Film Festival with the team behind his new film "Steve", Murphy was asked about "The Odyssey". He jokingly expressed his relief at not being involved in the project, saying "I have Roma: Relief of missing". On a more serious note, he expressed his excitement to see Nolan’s adaptation, stating that if anyone could approach the Odyssey, it would be Nolan. Murphy praised Nolan, calling him "one of a million" and a large part of his life as an actor.
Upcoming Projects
Murphy was also asked about the upcoming "Peaky Blinders" film, but remained tight-lipped, saying "Oh, I can’t tell you". On the other hand, his new film "Steve" had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on September 5th. The film’s performance was praised by Peter Debruge, the chief film critic, who highlighted Murphy’s acting as a teacher in the title role.
Murphy’s Career and Praise
Debruge noted that for many, Murphy’s performance in "Oppenheimer" was the highlight of his career, although he also praised his work in "Breakfast on Pluto". Murphy’s latest collaboration with director Tim Mielants shows his humility as an actor, and his ability to take on diverse roles. With his impressive filmography and upcoming projects, Murphy continues to make a name for himself in the film industry.
