Introduction to the BFI London Film Festival 2025

The BFI London Film Festival 2025 (LFF) has announced its lineup, which includes the world premiere of Samuel Abrahams’ film, lady, starring Sian Clifford. The festival will take place from October 8th to 19th.

New Additions to the Festival

The total number of world premieres at the festival is now up to seven, with lady being one of the new additions. The film is a mockumentary that follows a narcissistic aristocrat who hires a filmmaker to record her. The movie is produced by the British company Metfilm, and sales are being handled by the company’s sales branch.

Other Premieres and Screenings

In addition to lady, the festival will also feature the Italian filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino’s Mubi title, grace, which premiered at Venice, Telluride, and Busan. The film stars Toni Servillo as a fictional president who is nearing the end of her term. Another film that will be screened is The fence by French director Claire Denis, which will be part of the "Dare" exhibition structure and stars Mia McKenna-Bruce, Tom Blyth, Matt Dillon, and Isaach de Bankolé.

More Films to Look Out For

The Argentine filmmaker Gaston Solnicki’s The blow will also be part of the festival, and it played in Venice for the first time. The film stars William Defoe as the manager of a luxury hotel who decides to sabotage the plans of the Argentine developer who has acquired it. These new additions bring the total number of films at the festival to 166, which is close to the 168 films that were featured in 2024.

Conclusion

The BFI London Film Festival 2025 promises to be an exciting event with a diverse range of films from around the world. With the addition of these new titles, the festival is shaping up to be a must-attend event for film enthusiasts. The world premieres, British premieres, and other screenings will provide a unique opportunity for audiences to experience the best of international cinema.
