Upcoming Film Project
Introduction to the Project
Academy Award-nominated director Paul Greengrass is gearing up for his next big project, with sources confirming that Katherine Waterston is on board. The film will also star Andrew Garfield, who has officially signed on, with Focus Features set to distribute. This news comes after Deadline reported last spring that the package was coming together with Garfield likely to be involved.
Production Details
The film will be produced by Jason Blum, alongside Greg Goodman, Joanna Kaye, and Greengrass through Blumhouse. Production is expected to begin this autumn, with Greengrass at the helm. The project is already generating buzz, with Garfield set to play a legendary leader of a rebellion against the tyranny of King Richard II.
Plot and Cast
In the film, Garfield’s character will lead an army of people against the king’s power, in a struggle for justice and survival. Waterston, who has recently wrapped production on the critically acclaimed Paramount+ series "The Agency", will also star in the film. Her performance in "The Agency" earned strong reviews, and the show has been renewed for a second season.
Cast Background
Waterston has also appeared in the comedy "Fackham Hall" alongside Damian Lewis. She is represented by Uta, Beach Entertainment, and Lark Management in the UK, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller, Gellman, Meigs & Fox. Garfield is represented by CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern, while Greengrass is represented by the same team.
Greengrass’ Other Projects
Greengrass’ next project, "The Lost Bus", is set to have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5. The film, which stars Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera, will be released in theaters before debuting on the platform. Focus Features has had a strong festival weekend, with films like "Bugonia" and "Hamnet" also premiering.
Focus Features’ Festival Weekend
Focus Features has a number of exciting projects in the works, including Ronan Day-Lewis’ directorial debut "Anemone", which is written by and stars Daniel Day-Lewis. The company also has "Song Sung Blue" starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, and "Hamnet" starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal. With a strong lineup of films, Focus Features is set to make a big impact in the coming months.
