Introduction to the 2025 MTV VMAs
The 2025 MTV VMAs have announced their first group of moderators for the award ceremony, which is set to take place next Sunday. This year’s moderators include a diverse range of celebrities, such as Jessica Simpson and her sister Ashlee Simpson Ross, as well as Brittany Snow and Malin Akerman from the TV series "Hunting Women". Other notable moderators include Paris Hilton, Megan Stalter, Nikki Glaser, Drew Barrymore, Ice Spice, Ciara, Latto, and Livvy Dunne.
Pre-Show Details
The VMAs will also feature a one-hour pre-show that will air on MTV and various other networks, including BET, Comedy Central, CMT, Logo, MTV 2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land, and VH1. The pre-show will be hosted by Nessa and Kevan Kenney, with a special performance by Katseye "Gnarly" and "Gabriela" from their new appearance "Beautiful Chaos". The K-POP Girl Group is also a first-time VMA nominee for Best Group and MTV Push Performance of the Year.
New Additions to the Show
MTV has announced that the VMAS Extended Play stage will be part of the show for the first time, highlighting nominees such as Bailey Zimmerman with The Kid Laroi, Lola Young, and Megan Moroney. This new addition is expected to bring a fresh and exciting element to the ceremony.
Previously Announced Performers
The previously announced VMA performers include Videovanguard recipient Mariah Carey, Latin Icon Award recipient Ricky Martin, Rock the Bells Visionary Award recipient Busta Rhymes, and top-nominated artists Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter, and Somi. Other performers include J Alex Warren, J Balvin with DJ Snake, Doja Cat, Jelly Roll, and Tate McRae.
Leading Nominees
Lady Gaga is the leading nominee for the 2025 MTV VMAs with 12 nods, followed by Bruno Mars with 11 nominations and Kendrick Lamar with 10. All three artists are up for the top prize of the year, making the competition fierce and exciting.
Ceremony Details
The 2025 MTV VMAs will take place on Sunday, September 7th, at 8 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT, at the UBS Arena in New York. The ceremony will be broadcast for the first time on a broadcast network and will be simulcast on MTV and streaming on Paramount+ in the USA. LL Cool J will host the event, which promises to be an unforgettable night of music and entertainment.
