The horror thriller The Pond has wrapped up production in Northontalio, and Screen has received the first picture of Isabelle Fuhrman and Douglas Smith in the film. This picture will be shown to buyers along with other film material, and sales talks will continue at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) this week.
Plot and Cast
The Pond is directed by Jeff Renfroe, who is known for his work on The Colony and Syfy’s Chucky. The story follows a group of lifelong friends who travel to a remote seaside house to celebrate their terminally ill friend. However, they soon discover that they have become hosts for a predatory parasite that threatens the entire group. The film features Isabelle Fuhrman from The Hunger Games and Douglas Smith from Big Little Lies and Don’t Worry Darling, along with Gil Bellows, Brandon McKnight, Tattiawna Jones, and Jack Greig.
Production and Post-Production
Rolling Pictures in Toronto is handling post-production and creature effects for the film. The script was written by Ben Brooks and Jeff Renfroe, and Thomas Michael is the producer. The Pond is a Fella Films production in association with Countless Pictures, which is handling worldwide sales. The film was made with the support of the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.
Director’s Vision
According to Jeff Renfroe, "We built this thing after the other. No links, no hiding place. Only an ensemble that is enclosed, scene after scene. It is the kind of horror that does not need blood to pull it out of you. It lives in the appearances and we have caught lightning." Thomas Michael added, "We came out of the forest with incredible performances and beautiful film materials." Kirk d’Amico, CEO of Myriad Pictures, praised the team, saying, "Jeff Renfroe and Thomas Michael and the outstanding lineup and the crew who did this clever and emotional horror thriller in North Ontario."
