Balancing Two Brands

To be over it, I see it as a real challenge to manage two different design teams. How do you plan to promote both labels? I worked most of my career for other designers. I made most of my career brands that were not my perspective. This is my training. But I actually find it, because of the way in which a certain diotima is managing both brands, not so challenging. It’s actually a lot of fun: I can be really ridiculous at Diotima, I can be really more radical over there if I want to be. Not that I will not have any interesting ideas here. But here is a formality that does not exist in Diotima.

Inspirations and Approaches

I like this type of pressure and river. This is a really lengthy way to say it, but one of my favorite film manufacturers is someone who made two films about a significant event. One is a documentary and one is a film and it is loosely based on a favorite film. I saw how he spoke and he said that he made both films at the same time, because where he found restrictions in the documentary form, he moved to the film and where he found restrictions, he went back. And I always found it so inspiring.

Collaborations

Do you work with a stylist? Yes, someone who styles with Diotima. It is unspoken at this time, we get on and she is so talented. At Diotima I was so lucky to work with people that I really admire. And I’m just so excited about this show; I have someone for casting and someone produces it and someone styles. I was really lucky over there.

Future Directions

Will it feel like a certain line-up? Or will it have a little more revenge? I think it will be a small mix. I think that’s more than anything else where I hope to be able to point out the future.

New Opportunities

What can you do here, what you can’t do with Diotima? Maybe one day I dress someone for a red carpet. What I am more excited about is the craft. But I hate it when people consider it aesthetics, how clever or nostalgic or whatever. For me, it is not aesthetics, it is a practice. The nice thing about the craft here is that it can be really technical. It can be a technique made by a very special machine that I may not have access to my resources at Diotima. I could develop crazy textiles that I might not be able to do there. I can really do so much here.
