Introduction to Sabrina Carpenter’s New Album
Sabrina Carpenter’s new album "Man’s Best Friend" has finally arrived, bringing with it a lively and stylized video, as well as the second single "Tears". The rollout of the album is filled with colorful pictures and Carpenter’s typical charm.
The Album’s Content
"A small initiative can go a very long, long way," she sings in the first verse of "Tears". "Baby, just make the dishes, I give you what you want." The video shows Colman Domingo in a demi "rocky horror" Paean, whereby Carpenter arrives in a house in the middle of nowhere, only to be greeted by a funhouse by characters, including Domingo in Drag. The album consists of 12 tracks, with 10 of them being explicit, which was not a surprise given the suggestive cover art.
The Meaning Behind the Album
Carpenter’s seventh album is not for the faint of heart, as she told Gayle King of the Record. "The album is not for a pearl coupling," she said. "But I also think that even pearl couplings can hear such an album in their own loneliness and find something that grins and giggles." This statement gives a glimpse into the themes and tone of the album, which seems to be focused on empowerment and self-expression.
Previous Work and Upcoming Tours
Before the release of "Man’s Best Friend", Carpenter had already made a name for herself with her previous work, including the single "Manchild", which debuted at No. 1 in the Song Charts in the United States. She had also released "Please please", a single from her "Short N ‘Sweet" album, which was awarded a Grammy. After completing a tour to support "Short N ‘Sweet" this year, Carpenter will be back on the road from October and will be performing at the Austin City Limits Music Festival. She is also set to play Lollapalooza Chile, Argentina, and Brazil next year.
