The holiday weekend is coming to a close, and with it, a new set of movies are making their debut. Among them are "Captured", a criminal thriller starring Austin Butler, "The Roses", a comedy featuring Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman, and a remake of "The Toxic Avenger".
New Releases
Sony Pictures’ "Captured" is expected to perform well, with a forecasted debut of $9.5 million over the four-day holiday weekend. In contrast, Searchlight Pictures’ "The Roses" is not expected to do as well, with a forecasted opening of $7 million. The comedy, which features an ensemble cast including Cumberbatch, Colman, and Andy Samberg, has earned $2.4 million on its opening day.
Classic Films Make a Comeback

Current Box Office Standings
Warner Bros.’ "Weapons" is expected to take the top spot at the box office, after being temporarily replaced by Netflix’s "KPOP Demon Hunters". Disney’s "Freaky Friday" is also holding strong, adding $1.7 million to its total and bringing its domestic total to $82 million.
