Introduction to Fashion Month
The fashion month is almost here and brings a one-month shop window of the greatest layers, creative debuts, and milestone celebrations in the industry in four global capitals. From New York to Paris, September will set the tone for the coming year, with designers having old and new figures in one of the most effective seasons in recent memories.
New York
The start-off fashion month will be New York, which takes place from September 11th to 16th and marks a "season of the restart" for the US capital. The week begins with a special show for the 10th anniversary of Brandon Maxwell on September 9, which led to Michael Kors on September 11th. The schedule comprises over 60 runway shows and presentations, including established names – such as Altuzarra, Calvin Klein Collection, Tibi, Jason Wu, Tory Burch, Khaite, Coach, and Eckhaus Latta – and a wave of new talents. Designers such as Nicholas in Area, Veronica Leoni for Calvin Klein, and Frances Howie for Forne give remarkable debuts, while Alexander Wang returns to the official list.
London
The London Fashion Week returns from September 18 to 22 and is the first season under the new leadership of the CEO of the British Fashion Council. The strategy has already made major changes: show fees for designers after the official schedule have been scrapped, international guests are being courted, and this fashion week has an increase in local designers by 18%. In the schedule, Heritage brands such as Burberry, Simone Rocha, and Emilia Wickstead return, while Roksanda celebrates its 20th anniversary and fashion East celebrates fresh talent for 25 years. JW Anderson will organize a “special evening event” instead of a traditional runway, which reflects the shifting of the brand into a wider lifestyle.
Milan
The Milan Fashion Week returns from September 23 to 29 and offers a highly effective season with 55 personal runway shows and four digital presentations. On the biggest discussions: Demas debut at Gucci, who starts the most expected creative transition of the season; Simone Bellotti’s first trip to Jil Sander; and Louise Trotter’s debut for Bottega Veneta. In particular, Versace is missing in the main landing calendar and dispenses with a traditional show under the new creative director Dario Vitale, which is instead available through an intimate event. Like London, Legacy anchors a week. Diesel starts the process, followed by heavy throats such as Fendi, Prada, Ferragamo, Tod’s, Moschino, and Max Mara, who return to their seasonal spotlight.
Paris
The Paris Fashion Week will take place from September 29th to October 7th and one of the eagerly awaited seasons of the year will bring. The official schedule offers 76 runway shows and 36 presentations, with important creative debuts being highlighted in addition to established houses. Matthieu Blazy will reveal his first collection for Chanel, Jonathan Anderson takes the reins in Dior (women), and Pierpaolo Piccioli presents his debut in Balenciaga, while Legacy brands such as Lanvin, Loewe, Maison Margiela, and Mugler call up the program. Rogue designers like Meryll Rogge, Julie Kegels, and Fasson Jacmin will also bring in a fresh new energy into the week.
