Introduction to Kate Winslet’s Directorial Debut

Kate Winslet is set to make her directorial debut with a film that tells a heartfelt story. The movie, Goodbye June, is scheduled to hit select theaters in the USA and the UK on December 12, before streaming on Netflix on December 24th.

The Plot of Goodbye June

The film revolves around four siblings whose lives take a dramatic turn when their sick mother’s condition worsens during the holiday season. Winslet led Goodbye June from a script by her son Joe Anders, and she, along with Kate Solomon, serves as a producer. A first picture from the film has been released, showing a scene with Winslet and Collette.

Kate Winslet’s Recent Work

Goodbye June is one of Winslet’s recent acting credits, which also include Lee and the series The Regime. She is also part of the impending Avatar: Fire and Ash. With an Oscar and two Emmys under her belt, Winslet has solidified her position as a talented actress.

Other Notable Projects

Meanwhile, another notable actress, Helen Mirren, can be seen opposite Pierce Brosnan and Ben Kingsley in Netflix’s crime film Thursday Murder Club, which debuts this week. Her recent series work includes 1923 and Mobland, with earlier credits including 1917 and Lee.

Kate Winslet’s Self-Doubt

Despite her numerous awards, Winslet has expressed her self-doubt about her acting abilities. In an interview with 60 Minutes, she revealed that she often questions her talent. When discussing her role in Lee, she confessed, "I would sit there and I would say: ‘This is ridiculous. … I can really think of at least five other brilliant actresses who have played this role much better than I do.’" This humility showcases her dedication to her craft and her willingness to continually improve.
