James Gunn Breaks Silence on Chris Pratt’s Potential Role in DCU
James Gunn recently sat down for an interview with Escorpion Gold to discuss his upcoming project, Peacekeeper Season 2. During the conversation, he was asked about the possibility of Chris Pratt joining the DCU, particularly as Batman. Gunn quickly shut down the idea, stating, “As Batman? NO.” However, he did confirm that there is a place for Pratt in the DCU, just not as the iconic superhero. “As something else? Yes,” Gunn said, leaving fans wondering what role Pratt might play.
Chris Pratt’s Interest in Joining the DCU
Gunn revealed that Pratt has expressed interest in working with him on a DC project. “Pratt would like to do something at DC,” Gunn said. “I would love it if he does something at DC…” While Gunn hasn’t decided on a specific character for Pratt, he has a history of collaborating with the same actors on multiple projects. For example, he worked with Guardians of the Galaxy stars Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, and Pom Klementieff on Superman, and his brother, Sean Gunn, appeared in Peacekeeper Season 2 as Max Lord.
The Search for a New Batman
With Gunn ruling out Chris Pratt as Batman, fans are still speculating about who could play the role in the upcoming The Brave and the Bold. The project seems to have been put on the backburner as Gunn and his team focus on more developed projects. Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson’s Batman will remain in Matt Reeves’ universe, and some fans are suggesting older, more physical actors like Alan Ritchson or Jensen Ackles for the role.
What’s Going on with ‘The Batman Part 2’?
Matt Reeves recently submitted his script for The Batman Part 2, and James Gunn, Peter Safran, and the DC team are reportedly enthusiastic about the project. Production is expected to begin early next year, with a planned release date of October 1, 2027. Colin Farrell, who plays the Penguin, has confirmed his involvement in the film, and Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis will reprise their roles as Commissioner Gordon and Alfred.
