Introduction to the International Finance Forum
The International Finance Forum (IFF) is a co-financing and co-production market that brings together manufacturers, sales employees, distributors, and managers to find potential partners. This year’s edition, which takes place from September 7th to 8th, features 40 feature-producing teams, including new work from Canada, Great Britain, the USA, Australia, France, Greece, and Iceland.
Canadian Projects at the IFF
Twenty Canadian projects are participating in the IFF, including Hannah Cheesman’s romantic comedy "Assistance", an adaptation of her 2015 TIFF short of the same name. Lulu Wang, known for directing "The Goodbye" and "Expats", is on board as a co-producer, along with Jen Goyne Blake and Minisery. Other Canadian projects include "Knight", a crime drama set in Montreal, and "The Last Tears of the Deceased", a road trip drama.
International Projects at the IFF
The 20 international projects at the IFF include "Buffalo", an indigenous drama from US producers Laura Wagner and Ivan Macdonald, which features a script by Oscar-nominated actress Lily Gladstone. Other international projects include "Life and Flowers and Other Things", a comedy-drama from UK producers Pablo Gutierrez de Lario and Elena Conte, and "Please Do Not Go", a dramedy about multiple sclerosis from Australian producer Gal Greenspan.
What to Expect at the IFF
This year’s edition of the IFF includes personal individual producer and executive meetings, an exclusive panel discussion with managers via the international film sales landscape, and networking opportunities for participants. The IFF has a track record of success, with around 170 projects introduced at the forum going on to be produced, including "Blood Lines", "40 Tomorrow", "Alice Darling", "The Curse Glass", and "Maudie".
Partners and Supporters
The IFF is supported by several partners, including Telefilm Canada, the British Department of Economic Affairs and Trade, the Canadian Media Producer Association, Creative BC, Sodec, and Manitoba Film & Music. These partners play a crucial role in helping to bring new film projects to life and supporting the development of the film industry.
