Lil NAS X Arrested and Charged with Multiple Crimes
Lil NAS X, whose real name is Montero Hill, was arrested on Thursday and charged with three batteries against a police officer and one count of resisting an officer. He was held in a Van Nuys prison before being indicted on Monday morning, where he pleaded not guilty. The judge set his bail at $75,000.
The Incident
According to reports, Lil NAS X was seen hiking naked through the streets of Studio City, wearing only cowboy boots. TMZ released footage of the incident, which showed him rapping along to Nicki Minaj’s verses from "Monster" while completely naked. The LAPD responded to calls and complaints about a naked man acting erratically on the street, and he was arrested for battery of an officer. He was also taken to a hospital for a suspected potential overdose.
Reaction to the Arrest
After his release, Lil NAS X took to his Instagram stories to speak about his arrest. He said, "Your girl will be fine. Ok? She will be okay, it will be okay. Shit. It was damn terrible. It was terrifying! It was a terrible last four days, but your girl will be fine." He seemed to be reassuring his fans that he would be okay despite the ordeal.
Consequences of the Arrest
The case is set to go to preliminary judgment on September 15, and if convicted, Lil NAS X could face up to five years in prison. Nathan J. Hochman, the Los Angeles County Prosecutor, stated, "Attack by police officers is more than just a crime against these people, but a direct threat to public security. Anyone who attacks law enforcement will have serious consequences, no matter who they are or how famous they may be." This statement emphasizes the severity of the charges against Lil NAS X and the potential consequences he may face.
