Introduction to the Case
The Dancehall singer Shadta Wale was detained in his hometown of Accra as part of the investigation into the purchase of a Lamborghini, said Ghana’s business and organized criminal office (EOCO) on Thursday. The fans gathered in front of the building to demand the publication of the singer. The investigators said that he had granted a deposit for 10 million Cedi (approximately € 800,000 or $ 900,000) and would leave prison as soon as his guarantees were checked.
Background of the Investigation
Charles Nii Armah Mensah, also known as Shadta Wale, was invited by Eoco to help with an investigation into a Lamborghini Urus from 2019, a car that was identified by the FBI and the US Ministry of Justice as proceeds from 4 million dollar crime, a Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian who is currently in the USA Jail time in the United States. The case is part of a broader investigation into a suspected crime network that aims at US citizens.
The Purchase of the Lamborghini
The EOCO said that he identified and confessed the Lamborghini -SUV "in or around May this year" after he had been asked to track down the vehicle by the US authorities. The Urus is an SUV with the all -wheel drive, the first car of its kind, which is better known for its super sports cars from the Italian company. Shadta Wale had posted photos online with a yellow Lamborghini -urus, which is similar to it.
Investigation Details
The EOCO said that he had invited whales to ask himself the question "According to a public claim of Charles Nii Arma Mensah, that he bought the car from a non -identified party at a price of 150,000 US dollars". Wale apparently arrived on Wednesday afternoon, but the EOCO complained that his lawyer was delayed by several hours and that the survey ran far beyond the typical closing time of the office that night. The investigators said that the singer was "unable to identify the person he bought the car" except to say that he bought it "from the" street "" and by someone who was possibly called "Zak" who may have contacted WhatsApp, but whose he did not and whose contact he has thrown away.
Lack of Documentation
According to the EOCO, Wale had no paperwork such as the purchase or the owner of the vehicle and was only in the possession of a custom explanatory document "called Nana Kwabena Amuah, which is currently in prison". The singer has previously refused any knowledge of or connections to Amuah.
Fan Support
Outside the gates of the EOCO, the followers of the "Shatta movement" sang photos of the star’s image on Thursday. "Until our king goes out, we will not move – even if we sleep here,". The musician’s legal team previously said that whales bought the car in good faith and without knowing criminal connections. His administrative company said that he voluntarily worked with the investigation, did not mention the connections to the USA and said the case concerns "tax obligations".
