New Film About Bruce Springsteen’s Life

Introduction to the Movie

The 39th AFI Fest, which takes place from October 22nd to 26th, will open with a new film about Bruce Springsteen’s life. The movie, starring Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen, explores the story behind the recording of his iconic 1982 album, Nebraska.

The Story Behind Nebraska

The film shows how Springsteen, at the height of his global superstardom, recorded the album on a 4-track recorder in his bedroom in New Jersey. The movie features a talented cast, including Jeremy Strong and Odessa Young. Director Scott Cooper shares his insights into Springsteen’s connection to Los Angeles, stating, "While Bruce will be rooted forever in New Jersey, Los Angeles played a profound role in the shaping of his artistic voice."

Film Festivals and Release

The movie is expected to have its world premiere at the Telluride Film Festival, with a Spotlight Gala screening at the New York Film Festival. Disney will release the film through 20th Century Studios on October 24th. The complete lineup for AFI Fest will be announced on September 30th.
