Introduction to a Unique Documentary

The Czech documentary "Better Go Mad in the Wild" has been making waves, and for a good reason. This film, which won the prestigious Crystal Globe for Best Film at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF), tells the extraordinary story of twin brothers Frantisek and Ondrej Klisik. Directed by Miro Remo, the documentary is based on the book by Ales Palan and Jan Sibik, offering a glimpse into the lives of these brothers who have chosen to live outside the conventions of regular society.

The Story of the Klisik Brothers

The documentary provides an intimate look at the absurd life led by the Klisik brothers, showcasing their unique experiences and the choices they have made. It’s a story that not only captivates the audience but also prompts reflection on what it means to live a fulfilling life. The film’s ability to delve into the depths of human existence and the search for meaning and connection is part of its appeal.

A Bittersweet Victory

In a tragic turn of events, Frantisek Klisik was found dead just hours after the documentary won the Best Film Award at KVIFF. This incident adds a layer of complexity to the story, highlighting the fragility of life and the importance of human connection. The victory of the film is thus bittersweet, a reminder of the transience of life and the impact that stories like those of the Klisik brothers can have on us.

Production and Distribution

"Better Go Mad in the Wild" is a product of the Slovak company Arsy-Versy in co-production with the Czech company Nutprodukce, with Miro Remo and Tomas Hruby at the helm. Following its success at KVIFF, the documentary has secured spots in 13 more festivals, indicating a strong interest in the story it tells. Film Motor has taken over international sales, paving the way for a broader audience to experience this unique documentary. The film is scheduled to be released in Czech cinemas on September 18, courtesy of Aerofilms, and in Slovak cinemas on September 29 through Filmtopia. Additionally, Soy Beyaz Movies has acquired the rights for distribution in Turkey, further expanding its reach.

Looking Ahead

As "Better Go Mad in the Wild" prepares for its cinematic release, it’s clear that this documentary will spark important conversations about life, society, and the human condition. With its thought-provoking narrative and the tragic events surrounding its release, it’s a film that will resonate with audiences and leave a lasting impression. The story of the Klisik brothers serves as a reminder of the diversity of human experience and the importance of empathy and understanding.
