Partnership for a Cause
The Matthew Perry Foundation has announced a new official partnership with Healing Appalachia, the country’s largest recovery-based festival. This two-day event will take place on September 19-20 in Ashland, Kentucky.
What to Expect
The organization will provide over 400 volunteers with camping facilities, apartments, and amenities, as well as an additional 500 daily volunteers from recovery systems across Appalachia. This partnership aims to go beyond the festival, with the Matthew Perry Foundation and Healing Appalachia launching philanthropic initiatives to increase the reach and accessibility of recovery programs nationwide.
A Community Effort
According to Dave Lavender, CEO of Hope in the Hills, “When we all come together at the table, magic happens, and we can promote recovery as a community.” He quotes Matthew Perry, saying, “Addiction is too powerful to defeat alone. But together, we can beat it.” This partnership embodies this spirit, bringing people together to support those struggling with addiction and celebrating recovery.
Mission and Values
The Matthew Perry Foundation exists to ensure that no one is denied care or healing due to stigma. By supporting organizations like Healing Appalachia, the foundation stands in solidarity with the recovery community, amplifying their work and helping to create a future where compassion prevails. As Doug Chapin, CEO of MPF, and Lisa Kasteler-Calio, Executive Director of MPF, put it, “We believe that everyone deserves access to care and healing, regardless of their background or circumstances.”
Festival Lineup
This year’s festival will feature an impressive lineup, including headliners Tyler Childers and Chris Stapleton, as well as performances by Molly Tuttle, Remi Wolf, Lukas Nelson, Blackberry Smoke, and many more. The event promises to be an exciting celebration of music, community, and recovery.
The Foundation’s Purpose
The Matthew Perry Foundation was established to honor the legacy of the “Friends” star and his unwavering commitment to helping others overcome addiction. The foundation invests in programs that prioritize compassion, community, and conversation about substance use disorder, aiming to make a positive impact on the lives of those affected by addiction.
