Emirates NBD to Stop Issuing Foreign Currency for Some Currencies
Emirates NBD, a leading bank in the United Arab Emirates, has informed its customers that it will stop issuing foreign currency for some currencies. The bank announced that the service will be stopped for all customers on October 18, 2025.
Last Date for Issuing Foreign Currency Requirements
The last date for issuing foreign currency requirements is October 17, 2025. The bank has assured its customers that foreign currency requirements issued on October 17, 2025, will remain valid and be honored until the validity of the draft demand.
Affected Currencies
The bank has specified that the draft demand is set for certain currencies, although the exact currencies were not specified. In a message to its customers, the bank recommended that they make the necessary arrangements in advance to avoid any disruptions.
Recent Changes to International Transfers
In June, Emirates NBD introduced a charge of DH26.25 (including VAT) for international transfers carried out via the app or online banking, including those carried out via DirectRemit. However, this charge does not apply to transfers to India, Pakistan, Egypt, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, and the UK, provided that the transfer amount is at least DH100 via the app using DirectRemit services.
