Prohibition of TPO in Cosmetics
Introduction to the Ban
From September 1, 2025, TPO can no longer be used in cosmetics in the EU and therefore not in gelnagellack. The reason for this prohibition is the association of TPO with possible health risks.
Health Risks Associated with TPO
TPO is included in the list of substances that are classified as potentially skin-irritating or sensitizing. As a result, its use in cosmetics, including nail products, is no longer permitted within the European Union.
Reports of Skin Reactions
There are reports of skin reactions in people who are sensitive to TPO, such as reddening, itching, or eczema, especially in the cuticle area. In some cases, there is even an allergic reaction. The importance of knowledge and correct application of products cannot be overstated, as many complaints result from the wrong use.
Prevention of Complaints
Good training and clear regulations can prevent complaints related to the use of TPO in cosmetics. As the EU moves to prohibit the use of TPO, it is essential to prioritize the correct application and handling of nail products to minimize the risk of skin reactions and other health issues.
