Introduction to the DCU Project
Back when the first phase of the DCU was announced, James Gunn and Peter Safran revealed a spacious vision for a world in which a wide range of projects could be accommodated, from typical superhero tariffs to comedic features and even horror. At this latter end was Swamp Thing, an exploration of the dark history of the title-shaped person/plant monster, which was written and staged by James Mangold as an independent addition to the universe.
The Current State of the Project
The new cinematic franchise is now starting to bear fruits with Superhuman and Creature, although messages about Gothic and sticky history were more difficult. It has largely been lost in the shuffle because other projects had priority, but Gunn did not forget the biological-chemical merger, which was once Alec Holland. In a far-reaching conversation with Josh Horowitz for the Happy Sad Confusion podcast, Gunn was asked for a long series of previously announced DCU projects, including Mangold’s Swamp Thing.
Updates on the Film’s Progress
The last time we heard of the film was at the beginning of this year when the Logan helmer discussed the creative process of finding something new and creative with the tradition of the character instead of being tied up "handcuffs." According to Gunn, however, this process has not yet created anything tangible. Mangold currently has a lot on his plate and dates from last year, working on his delayed Star Wars prequel script. Despite the challenges, there are at least discussions about making the horror hero project a reality. "We spoke to James the other day," said Gunn. "No, he didn’t deliver a script. He was distracted by his billions of films [Laughs]. But I think … We’re talking about it again, so …"
The Story of Swamp Thing
The character had a reasonable proportion of adjustments that have either been unannounced or ended too early in the case of the 2019 series. The comics have shown two versions of Swamp Thing, of which the most popular is Alec Holland, a scientist who had just created a revolutionary biodegrading formula and was apparently killed by hired bats who planted a bomb in his laboratory in the Louisiana Swampland. When he pushed into the swamp to equip the flames, the formula made its magic and created a hulking mass of plant life, which absorbed his consciousness and mostly life on plant life. Mangold introduced his version as a Frankenstein story with a touch that stands out as unique.
The Future of the DCU
Although it was invoiced as an independent story, it remains to be seen whether the DCU could integrate other characters connected to the monster, such as its weak allies John Constantine or other Dark members of the Justice League. The director sounded a bit hopeful that progress continues, and Swamp Thing could pick up too long, although both DC and Mangold, which are captivated in a variety of projects, do not need to make any direct need to enable anything. It was recently known that a Wonder Woman film was then quickly followed in the studio Superhuman success, and Gunn reported reported ideas for spin-off shows that could include Skyler Gisondo’s Jimmy Olsen and Edi Gathegi’s Mister great.
Conclusion
Swamp Thing is still far from vision of the large screen. Stay up to date with the latest news to get more about the film while working on the DCU is continued. With a range of projects in the works, including Peacekeeper season 2, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and other projects like Lantern, Brave and the Bold, and Sgt. Rock, the future of the DCU is looking bright.
