Introduction to Marni’s New Creative Director
Belgian designer Meryll Rogge is the new creative director of Marni, as announced by the parent company (OTB) today. She succeeds the outgoing creative director Francesco Risso, who left the label in June after almost 10 years.
Welcome to Marni
Stefano Rosso, CEO of the brand, expressed his pleasure in welcoming Rogge to Marni, stating that she is an extraordinary creative talent and an inspiring woman. Her vision and expertise will play a key role in designing the future of the brand.
Rogge’s Impression
Rogge impressed OTB with her sensitivity in reinterpreting the brand’s DNA and offering a contemporary vision that Marni can offer worldwide and in all its dimensions. This includes accessories, interior design, communication, and special projects.
Background and Experience
Rogge launched her women’s brand of the same name in 2020, gaining attention for her upcycled, reconstructed clothing items often inspired by specific periods or locations. After graduating from the Antwerp Academy, she worked as a women’s clothing designer for Marc Jacobs in New York before returning to Belgium to work with Dries van Noten.
Creative Style and Achievements
Rogge is known for her use of courageous colors, prints, and constructions, with a focus on portability. She has won the Andam Prize 2025 and has been a finalist for the LVMH Prize, Andam Prize, and Woolmark Prize. Her team, composed entirely of women, wears their clothes every day, showcasing the brand’s commitment to wearable fashion.
OTB’s Creative Transformation
The appointment of Rogge marks a significant creative transformation at Marni’s parent company OTB, following the appointment of Simone Bellotti as creative director at Jil Sander and Diesel, and the departure of Luke and Lucie Meier from Jil Sander. Rogge is now the sole creative director in the OTB stable, bringing a new vision to the brand.
