Police Officers and Primary School Children
Out of police officers asked primary school children for behavioral problems in the state, save and share your DNA without permission. We have shown you how our investigations urge legislators to change. Now we give you a look at how things really work in California State Capitol.
How the Capitol Works
The Capitol generally does not work as people think, and invoices that are caused by our reporting provide the perfect examples. Our studies showed that police officers have been called to K-8 campus in one year, including things such as late mediation, inappropriate behavior, and disruptive school activities, which is technically an offense.
Reducing Unnecessary Calls
"We use valuable resources when police officers come for very small incidents at the locations for thousands of times a year," said a member of the California meeting. The assembly man introduced a legislative template that is intended to reduce unnecessary calls for police officers on campus for the second time in a row.
Changes to the Legislation
Last year, the chair of the meeting decided not to plan the legislation for a hearing and to kill it alone. However, this year, he supports the invoice with changes. "I just want to make it clear for the recording that the law has made many changes," said the chair at the hearing. These changes include clarification that the administrators cannot prevent employees from calling the police officers and that they have to notify criminal prosecution on drug sales and weapons on the campus.
Newborn Genetic Data Protection
Almost every baby born in the USA gets a heel stitch shortly after birth. The test itself is crucial, but it is what happens after the test in which many people are affected. The remaining blood spots are bought "property of the state" and can be bought by researchers or shared without their knowledge or approval with law enforcement authorities.
Demands for Transparency
For years, everyone has been demanding more transparency, from parents to data protection administrations. Actually, three different Senate committees voted last year that the parents could be decided before the state states their child’s DNA. However, the full Senate never had to vote.
New Bills
So now there are two new bills. One would force the state to publicly publish the list of research studies based on the blood spots in California. The other would ask the state to catch up with its permission before saving or sharing your DNA. The first calculation was so popular that it passed the consent without hearing. The second was pulled by the author in a closed deal to resume the calculation of the last year that has died in the voltage file.
