The Difficulty of Dating in Today’s World

Too many options in the dating scene can make it difficult for individuals to commit to one person. With the help of dating apps, people often find themselves browsing through numerous potential partners, even after meeting someone they are interested in. This trend has been referred to as "Cookie Jarring," where someone keeps a potential partner in their back pocket as a safety net while exploring other dating options.

What is Cookie Jarring?

Cookie Jarring is a phenomenon where someone treats a potential partner as just one of many options in their dating life. They may not be fully committed to the relationship and are often keeping their options open. This can be frustrating for the person being "cookie jarred," as they may feel like they are not being taken seriously or that their feelings are not being considered.

Signs of Cookie Jarring

There are several signs that may indicate that someone is being cookie jarred. If the person you are dating rarely commits to plans and does not discuss where the relationship is headed, it may be a sign that you are just one of many options for them. Another sign is if the relationship feels very one-sided, with one person making most of the efforts. If you find yourself always being the one to initiate conversations or plan dates, it may be time to reevaluate the relationship.

Other Red Flags

Other red flags of cookie jarring include extended response times in messages and never being prioritized. If the person you are dating is consistently slow to respond to your messages or seems to be pursuing other relationships, it may be a sign that you are not a priority to them. Additionally, if your partner is hesitant to introduce you to their friends and family or post about you on social media, it may indicate that they are not fully committed to the relationship.

Why Do People Cookie Jar?

There are many reasons why someone may engage in cookie jarring behavior. It could be due to fear of commitment or past relationships that have not worked out. It does not necessarily mean that they are not interested in the relationship or that it has no hope. However, in some cases, people may put someone on the back burner because they really like them and are not sure how to navigate their feelings.

Moving Forward

If you find yourself in a situation where you think you are being cookie jarred, it may be time to reevaluate the relationship. Consider having an open and honest conversation with your partner about your feelings and concerns. It is also important to prioritize your own needs and well-being, and to be aware of the signs of cookie jarring behavior. By being aware of these signs and taking steps to protect yourself, you can avoid getting hurt and find a relationship that is healthy and fulfilling.
