Introduction to a Critical Issue

Freestyle Digital Media, a division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has acquired a documentary that sheds light on the intensifying conflict between humans and wild animals worldwide. The film, titled But one but many, is set to make its world premiere at the Dances With Films Festival in Los Angeles on June 29.

The Documentary’s Focus

But one but many is the directorial debut of Janna Giacoppo, who explores the intricate relationships between humans and wildlife. Shot on location in Kenya and beyond, the documentary delves into the escalating global crisis of human-wildlife conflict, revealing the deep ties between government policies, wildlife conservation, and the impact on both humans and animals.

A Complex Issue

The film dares to ask how humans and wild animals can coexist in a world where their spaces are increasingly intertwined. Giacoppo, the founder of the Human Wildlife Project, a non-profit organization, aims to highlight the importance of finding solutions that benefit both humans and animals. The organization’s mission is to empower local initiatives that promote coexistence between humans and wildlife, helping them to thrive together.

The Human Wildlife Project

The Human Wildlife Project’s website states that the organization supports "ordinary initiatives led by local people" to help humans and animals coexist. Giacoppo emphasizes that the real decision is not between humans or wild animals, but rather about challenging the systems that destroy both. But one but many aims to reclaim the narrative and prove that a different future is possible, one that prioritizes the needs of both humans and animals.

Behind the Documentary

The documentary is co-produced by Maya Moravec and Dr. Lorinda Hern, with Jim Greenbaum and Antonio M. Freitag serving as executive producers. The acquisition deal was negotiated directly between Freestyle Digital Media and filmmaker Janna Giacoppo. Plans for theatrical and digital/streaming releases will be announced at a later date.
