Recall of Mini-Fridges Due to Fire and Combustion Dangers
On Wednesday, Astroai recalled almost 250,000 mini-fridges due to fire and combustion dangers after two of the compact refrigerators caught fire, causing hundreds of thousands of dollars of property damage.
The Cause of the Recall
The electrical switch of the personal refrigerators can short circuit, posing fire and combustion risks. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has received at least 70 reports about the mini-fridges that say smoke, burning, melting or catching. Two fires caused more than $360,000 in reported property damages.

The recalled mini-fridges have a 4-liter capacity and were produced in China. They are 9.45 inches in diameter, 6.9 inches wide, and 10 inches high. The refrigerators were available in black, white, blue, and pink and were sold online from June 2019 to June 2022 for about $40 on Amazon.com and astroai.com.
