Introduction to the Deal

An infrastructure investor belonging to the private-equity giant CVC Capital Partners is in conversations to support a takeover of ManX Telecom in the amount of 500 million GBP. This deal aims to combine the communication providers of crown dependencies.

Details of the Takeover

CVC DIF corresponds to the financing of the takeover of ManX telecommunications companies to finance a takeover of ManX Telecom from JT Group, which belongs to Jersey Telecom. According to the sources of the telecommunications industry, a deal could be agreed within a few weeks.

Background of the Companies Involved

CVC DIF’s participation in the prospective deal takes place seven months after the JT group had earlier discussions that aimed at taking control of Manx Telecom. The main telephone and broadband service provider of the Isle of Man belongs after a deal to Basalt Infrastructure Partner in 2019.

Jersey Telecom’s History and Claims

Jersey Telecom was founded in 1888 and belongs to the island’s government. It claims to be the world’s first telecommunications company that offers 100% fiber-to-the-home and companies for every broadband user.

Financing Partnership and Comments

The exact details of the financing partnership with CVC DIF were unclear. A spokesman for CVC rejected an opinion. JT Group and Manx Telecom were both contacted for a comment, but no further information was provided regarding the deal’s specifics or the parties’ involvement.
