Introduction to Superhuman
The film has been in development for some time and will provide the starting pad for James Gunn’s new DCU. Throughout its production, Gunn’s Superman was compared to the DC films of Zack Snyder. One of the strong differences to be observed must be included in the decision by Gunn to include Guy Gardner’s Green Lantern. This is the first time that a Green Lantern has been featured in a live-action project since the 2011 film Green Lantern, and the first time that the character of Guy Gardner has had a significant role in a live-action feature film. The ring-wielding superhero is brought to life by The Rookie‘s Nathan Fillion, who will portray Gardner.
The Character of Guy Gardner
Gardner is great and will be accompanied by Mister to help Superman defend the Earth against those who would like to harm it. Recently published advertising material has introduced the audience to Gardner’s legendary weapon and, most notably, his iconic bowl haircut. Speaking during an episode of Max’s DC Studios present the official podcast, Superhuman star Fillion addressed Guy Gardner’s silly haircut. The actor revealed that other hairstyles were considered, but he put his foot down and called for Guy Gardner’s legendary bowl cut because it is a central part of the character’s appearance. Fillion comments were: "There were some conversations about different hairstyles. There were some conversations about different types of things we wanted to go … I was all the way."
Fillion’s Other Projects
Fillion is currently playing in ABC’s procedural drama, The Rookie, like Officer John Nolan, alongside Richard T. Jones, Eric Winter, and Melissa O’Neil, among others. On the way to an eighth season and playing an officer in the LAPD, a certain look was required that Fillion decided to use for Guy Gardner’s iconic appearance. "Well, here is the thing," explains Fillion. "I have another job with a boss who is so friendly to let myself be for other projects. But I think he would pull the border in a policeman with a bowl haircut."
James Gunn’s Brave Decision
Gunn’s decision to feature Guy Gardner in his first excursion in a new DCU can be considered brave. However, it indicates that the franchise under Gunn’s leadership is not afraid to take risks and venture into the unexplored corners of the DC comic tradition. A frequently researched character that will return in Superhuman is Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor. The character returns to wreak havoc once again as he pursues his campaign of hatred against Superman. Hoult explained beforehand what drives his version of Lex Luthor: "He is someone who really wants to be perceived in relation to science and himself and how he has to be perceived and his intellect really worked hard. Even for me, physically, I wanted him to feel that he is as much alpha as possible where he is who has done everything in his head, but also for humanity in a certain way. should be worshiped. And then this person, this superhuman, this extraterrestrial, came to which all of these things come in many ways. That gives him a deep, deep resentment."
