Record-Breaking Climber

A 55-year-old man from Nepal, known as "Everest Man", climbed the top of Mount Everest for the 31st time on Tuesday, breaking his own record for the most climbs to the highest peak.

The Climbing Expedition

The famous Sherpa Guide, Kami Rita, led a climbing expedition for the Indian Army Adventure Everest organized by Seven Summit Treks. Seven Summit Treks congratulated Kami Rita on his achievement, stating, "Massive congratulations to the legendary Kami Rita Sherpa on his 31st successful ascent of Everest – the highest number of ascents by anyone in history."

Who is Kami Rita?

Kami Rita Sherpa is a national climbing hero and a global symbol of Everest. Born in the Solukhumbu region, the heartland of the Sherpa community, Rita first climbed Everest in 1994 while working for a commercial expedition. Since then, he has climbed the 8,849-meter mountain almost every year, leading clients to the summit.

Kami Rita’s Achievements

Rita has written a book about what it takes to climb Mount Everest. A year ago, when he reached the summit for the 29th and 30th times, he said that he "only worked" and did not plan to set records. "I’m happy about the records, but the records are finally broken," he said. According to Rita, colleague Sherpa Guide Pasang Dawa previously held the record for most climbs of Mount Everest, with 29 successful ascents. Rita is now more focused on promoting Nepal’s climbing recognition worldwide, stating, "I am more glad that my climbing Nepal is recognized in the world."
