Introduction to the Fantastic Four
Pedro Pascal was recently cast as Reed Richards, also known as Mister Fantastic, in the upcoming Marvel movie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. However, it has been revealed that he wasn’t the only actor in consideration for the role.
David Tennant’s Interest in the Role
During a conversation at McM Comic Con, David Tennant was asked which superhero he would like to play in a film. He revealed that he had Reed Richards in mind, but unfortunately, the role had already been given to Pedro Pascal. Tennant stated, "In terms of superheroes, I easily kept Reed Richards in mind and unfortunately it looks like they had gone in a different direction."
Tennant’s Reaction to Pascal’s Casting
Although Tennant was interested in the role, he expressed his happiness that Pedro Pascal was cast as Reed Richards. He said, "Although someone has to be, I am very happy that it is honestly Pedro Pascal." Tennant’s kind words show that there is no bad blood between the two actors.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to be released on July 25th and features an all-star cast, including Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, Julia Garner as Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson as Galactus. The movie follows the Fantastic Four as they defend the earth against the villainous Galactus and his herald, Silver Surfer, while also balancing their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond.
A Lighthearted Moment
Later in the conversation, the moderator asked Tennant if he had seen a viral video where Pascal calls himself the "bigger daddy" compared to Oscar Isaac. Tennant replied that he hadn’t seen the video, and when asked who the "bigger daddy" was, he jokingly asked, "What are the criteria?" He then praised Pascal, saying, "I think Pedro Pascal is great. I am very, very pleased that it exists." The exchange showcased the lighthearted and humorous side of the two actors.
