Introduction to Fujairah Airport’s Summer Expectations

With daily flights to India, Thailand, Bangladesh, and other popular destinations, Fujairah Airport is anticipating a surge in passenger numbers this summer. The factors contributing to this expected increase include fewer crowds, attractive offers, and lower flight prices compared to other airports.

Expected Increase in Passenger Traffic

According to Esmaeil M Al Baloushi, General Manager of the Fujairah International Airport (FIA), the airport is preparing for an increase in passenger traffic starting from June. This anticipation is based on the airport’s accessibility and the appeal it holds for travelers seeking a more streamlined travel experience.

Partnerships for Enhanced Services

A travel agency, Smart Travel, based in Dubai, has recently signed an agreement with FIA. As part of this agreement, Smart Travel will open an office at the airport next month. This move is designed to facilitate smoother travel arrangements for the agency’s clients.

Savings on Flight Tickets

Passengers flying to India can expect significant savings by choosing Fujairah Airport. On average, a person can save around DH250 on flight tickets, especially when compared to flying from a busier airport like Dubai. For larger families, this could translate into substantial savings for their annual vacations. Safeer Mohammed, General Manager of Smart Travel, highlighted the potential for massive savings, citing examples of affordable flights to destinations like Phuket with a short layover in Mumbai, starting from DH600.

Addressing the Issue of High Ticket Prices

The high cost of flights from the UAE to India during summer vacations has long been a concern for Indian expats. Ticket prices often double during peak travel seasons. However, Fujairah Airport’s offerings aim to provide a more affordable alternative.

Advantages of Choosing Fujairah Airport

The airport offers several advantages to attract more flyers. These include discounts and free shuttle services from Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, and Umm Al Quwain to Fujairah Airport. Additionally, passengers can enjoy a 20% discount on all duty-free purchases. There are also generous luggage allowances, with Indian Airlines Indigo offering an additional 5 kg of luggage allowance on flights from Fujairah to Mumbai and Kannur.

Expansion Plans

Fujairah Airport plans to expand its flight offerings, including more destinations in India with Indigo and potentially adding other airlines. The goal is to continuously improve facilities and services to better serve passengers by offering several flights to different destinations, making Fujairah a more appealing hub. Discussions with other airlines are underway to achieve this goal.
